Meet the Fine Art Portrait Artist Silvana Moldovan

I’m Silvana, a self-taught fine art portrait artist based in Transylvania, Romania. I specialize in highly detailed, hand-drawn portraits of people, pets, and wildlife created from reference photos.

With more than 10 years of drawing experience, I focus on creating fine art portraits that capture both realism and emotion.

Portraits have always held a special place in my heart. I’ve always been drawn to expressions, small details, and the challenge of making a drawing feel alive.
Over time, that curiosity grew into a deep passion for realism and emotional storytelling through art.

Each portrait is drawn entirely by hand using archival-quality materials. To achieve the best possible results, I work with Faber-Castell and Caran d’Ache pencils on acid-free, hot-pressed Fabriano cotton paper to ensure longevity and preservation.

Working from carefully selected reference photos, I focus on capturing the subtle details that make each subject unique — from expression and character to texture and light. My goal as a fine art portrait artist is to create portraits that are not only deeply personal, but lasting works of art to be treasured for years to come.
